Lake City – Carrol “Gene“ Wheeler, 80, died Saturday, December 29,
2007 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral was held 10:30
a.m. Thursday, at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City, with Rev. Carla Hillyer officiating.
Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery.
Carrol was born on December 27, 1927 in Wilson, Oklahoma
to parents Clifford Eugene Wheeler and Florence Charlott
(Youngdahl) Wheeler. Carrol served in
the United States Army during World War II from 1946 until 1954. On September
8, 1965, Carrol married Marilyn Daisy in Jackson,
Minnesota. Carrol worked construction and drove
truck until his retirement in 1988. Carrol is survived by his wife Marilyn of Lake City; sons,
Freddie and wife Masako of Honolulu, Hawaii, Timothy and wife Doris of Des
Moines, and Clifford (Rusty) and wife Dianne of Army Station Fort Stewart,
Georgia; daughters, Peg and husband Dean Cother of
Emmetsburg, and Angela Wheeler and fiance Mike Rushton of Farnhamville; 13
grandchildren; and one sister, Myrt and husband Junior
Courter of Sac City. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Marjie, Fran, Marie; and in-laws, Russell and Marcella
Daisy. |
