Dora Sorenson, 93, died
Monday, March 3, 2008 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, in Lake City. Funeral
service was held Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake
City with Rev. Carla Hillyer officiating. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery. Dora Aura Sorenson was born
July 30, 1914 in Nebraska to parents Benjamin and Edna (Bishop) Garrett. She graduated from high school in Homer,
Nebraska in 1932 and attended Wayne State University in Nebraska for a
year. On February 14, 1935 she married
Fred Sorenson in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Together they farmed in the Lake City area for 55 years and Dora
especially liked caring for her sheep after receiving two for a wedding gift
from her dad. She was a member of the
Lanesboro Garden Club and several church circles, and she took several
painting classes in Lake City. Dora is survived by her
sons, Ronald (Shirley) Sorenson of Omaha, Nebraska, Larry (Beverly) Sorenson
of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, and Jim (Lana) Sorenson of Lake City, Iowa; 9
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Sorenson; and brother, Frank
Garrett. |
