Lake City Albert L. Al Redenius, 95,
died Monday, February 15, 2010 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 19th at the
Lake City Union Church with Rev. Betty Weidert
officiating and burial was in the Lake City Cemetery.
Al is survived by his children: Montie
(Suzanne) Redenius of Grinnell, Chuck (Lynn) Redenius of Charles City, Blair
(Mandy) Redenius of Algona, and Jolene Schleisman
of Lake City; 9 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren; and brother, Gerald (Shirley) Redenius of Lake
City. He was preceded in death by his
parents; wife, Thelma; son, Richard; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Albert L. Redenius was born October
24, 1914
in Lake City, Iowa to Samuel and Sarah (Clark) Redenius. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1934. On October 24, 1937, he was married to Thelma Blair at
Yetter, Iowa.
Al and Thelma resided at their home in Lake City for over 70 years. Al served in the United States Army during
WWII. He was a standard Oil Tank Wagon
agent. Community service was always
important to Al. He was a 40 year
member of the Lake City Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 20
years. He was also a member of the
Lake City Union Church, the Lake City School Board, the Lake City and Southern Cal Booster Club, the
Lake City City Council, and the Lake City American
Legion #31.
