Earl Minser

Earl R. Minser, 85 years of 314 Brookside Dr., Mayville, WI passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Angels Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc, WI

 

Earl was born the son of Amos Lionel and Gertrude Nellie (Libby) Minser on September 12, 1922 in Lake View, Iowa.  He was married to Norma Faye Wright on August 2, 1949 in the Little Brown Church in the Vail, Nashua, IA.

 

Earl served his country in the United States Navy where he served in the pacific theater and in Naval flight school during WWII.  Following his military service, he enrolled and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in journalism.  His career began in journalism and advertising and upon moving to Milwaukee, he owned and operated an advertising company which he ran until his retirement.  For many years, Earl served as an elder in the North Shore Presbyterian Church in Shorewood, WI.  Earl was extremely musical and viewed music as a calling, both in singing and songwriting.  His family was a very important part of his life.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

 

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Norma of Mayville; his son Clayton (Deborah) Minser of Mequon, his daughter Kristi Minser of Milwaukee; brother Robert (Ginny) Minser of NM and sister Carol (Wade) Olyer of FL; his 5 grandchildren: Jason Stephens, Jasmine Stephens, Graham Minser, Halley Minser and Madeline Minser; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Thelma and Phyllis Jean.

 

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 12th at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City, IA.
