Maitland, 79, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Des Moines. A memorial
service was held Monday, June 9, 2008 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.
James
Abner Maitland was born January 17, 1929 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Thomas L. and Clara (Morhing)
Maitland. He served 2 years in the
United States Military. He obtained
his Bachelor of Science Degree at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. On August 12, 1952, he was married to Wanda Mae Lee in Hennepin County, MN, and he worked as a chief chemist at Warren Cook
Chemical Inc.
James
is survived by his sons, Steve (Sue) Maitland of Illinois, Don (Sandy) Maitland
of Illinois, daughters, Michelle Peterson of Illinois, Julie (Donny) Hicks of
Texas, Linda (Philip) Jenkins of Lake City, 8 grandchildren, 4
great-grandchildren, brothers, Darwin Maitland of Idaho, Roger Maitland of
Tennessee, Johnny Maitland of Iowa and Tommy Maitland of Illinois, and
sisters, Dorothy Skovbo of Nebraska and Adah V. Hadenfield of Iowa. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Clara Maitland, and wife, Wanda
Mae Maitland.
