Mason City – Reverend Norris Hanson, 89, died on Friday May 2, 2008. Funeral service was held Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, Iowa. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery. Norris P. Hanson was born May 1, 1919, in rural Emmet County, Iowa. He was the second child of Andros Olai Hanson and Sylvia (Heggen) Hanson. He passed away at home on May 2, 2008. He attended rural school and graduated from Dolliver High School. He was a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and of Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating and being ordained into the Ministry in 1962. He served Lutheran parishes in Iowa in rural New Hampton, rural Northwood, rural Tama, Ringsted, and the United Methodist Church in Archer. He was united in marriage to Kathryn J. Burley on June 18, 1950, at
Woodlawn Christian Church, and four children were born of this union, Sharlene (Dennis) Appelgate, Sharyl (Wally) Carson, Elaine (Ronald) Biittner, and Paul (Kathryn) Hanson. He is survived by
his wife, Kathryn, his children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren Angela
(Brian) Hoisington, Stephanie and fiancé Joe Siskind,
Benjamin Appelgate and special friend Summer Tekippe, Meredith (Adam) Beamish, Jessa
Carson, Cameron Carson, Camille Carson, Donovan Carson, Elizabeth (Hansen) Chennikkara, Christina Biittner,
Patrice Biittner, Michelle Biittner,
Alison Dorman, Amanda (Tyler) Bonnicksen, Ryan
Hanson and fiancee Alicia Push, Leah Hanson, 5
great-grandchildren Mallory, Austin, Avery, and Addison Hoisington and Evangelina Chennikkara. He is
also survived by brothers Arden (Lila) Hanson, Romain
(Cheryl) Hanson, David (Delores) Hanson, and Phillip (Sharon) Hanson, and
sisters Marilyn (Paul) Hagen and Phyllis (Ron) Book and sister-in-law Verna
Hanson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents, triplet sons in infancy, brother Marvin Hanson and his wife,
Bernice, and brother Joseph Hanson. |
