Mildred Filloon

Lake City – Mildred Filloon, 86, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 4th at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating and burial was in the Lake City Cemetery.

Mildred Elaine Stanzel was born March 4, 1923 at home in Odebolt, Iowa the daughter of Barnabas and Bertha (Grace) Stanzel. On September 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Doyle Filloon at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. She received her education at the Sioux Rapids school and Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She held several secretarial jobs before becoming a stay-at-home mom to Marge, Sheryl, Suzanne, Ron & Deborah. She enjoyed playing cards, playing board games with her young friends, sewing and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Barnabas & Bertha Stanzel; husband, Doyle Filloon; and brothers, Gerald, Kenneth and Robert Stanzel. She is survived by 4 daughters, Marge (Jim) Hicks, Sheryl Dowling, Suzanne Stephenson, and Deborah Filloon; 1 son, Ronald (Susan) Filloon; 23 grandchildren; brother, Donald Stanzel; and 2 sisters, Marjorie (Jared) Fairchild, and Alice Hill; several nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mildred was a devoted & loving wife, mother & grandmother who was greatly loved & will be greatly missed.
