Yetter - Jack Carisch, 78, died
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at his home. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Woodlawn Christian Church in Lake City, with
Rev. Carla Hillyer officiating. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery with
full military rites by the Lake City V.F.W. and American Legion. John “Jack” Carisch was born on September 16, 1929 in Bemidji,
Minnesota to parents Bill and Lucille (Conklin) Carisch. He graduated from Bemidji High School in
1947. As a young man he arrived in
Iowa from Minnesota and worked as a farm hand for Lynn Cornelius and “Shine”
Davis. Jack served in the United
States Army from 1951 to 1953 with the 1st Calvary Division, 7th
Regiment Company H. He was a machine
gunner, serving in Korea and Hokkaido, Japan.
He also wore the combat infantry badge and Korean Service ribbon with
one campaign star. Jack married the
love of his life and life-long partner, Barbara Cornelius on June 20, 1954,
at Woodlawn Church in Lake City. They
became proud parents of two children, daughter Catherine Jean and son,
Michael Lynn. Barbara passed away in
1991. Jack fulfilled his life-long
dream of being an owner/operator of his 160A farm south of Yetter. Jack was blessed with many
friends and family including daughter, Jean (Rick) Dirks of Auburn, son,
Michael (Roxanne) Carisch of Lake City, 5
grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, brothers, Jim Carisch of Denver, Colorado and Robert Carisch of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, and sister, JoAnn (Bob) Strand of Bemidji, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents,
sister, Jean, and wife.
