Lake
City – Margaret Blanchfield, 86, died Monday, June 23, 2008 at her home. Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, 2008 at Lampe
Funeral Home in Lake City. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery.
Margaret is survived by her
husband, Verle Blanchfield
of Lake City, children, Kathryn Blanchfield of Lake
City, Roger and his wife Lou Blanchfield of Churdan, Virginia and her husband Tim Waterhouse of
Madison, Tennessee, and Barry and his wife Evetta Blanchfield of Churdan, 11
grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Pearl Lightner, sons, Conrad Blanchfield
in 1943 and Craig Blanchfield in 1990 and brother,
Francis Lightner.
Margaret Lightner
Blanchfield was born June 5, 1922 at home in Adaza, Iowa
to parents Glen and Pearl (Earhart) Lightner. She graduated from Lohrville High School
in 1939, and on January 29, 1940
she was married to Verle Blanchfield
in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother, and was an accomplished musician. She was a member of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church
in Lake City. She was also a member of the Music Club,
PEO, Adaza Thursday Club, 20th Century
Club, Union Church Choir, Fort Dodge Choral Society and Monday Club.
