Oakland, California – Joleen Marie (Harms) Jones, 51, formerly of Lanesboro,
died of an apparent heart attack and asthma complications on December 25,
2007 at her apartment in her sleep. A memorial
service was held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Lanesboro United Methodist
Church in Lanesboro with Pastor James King officiating. Inurnment was in the Lanesboro Cemetery,
Lanesboro. Joleen was born July 4, 1956 in Lake City, Iowa, she was
always a firecracker and proud that was her birthday. Her parents are Phyllis (Subbert) and the late John Harms. She attended school in Lake City with the
class of 1975. Her graduation was
completed by attending G.E.D. classes taught by Edith Kavanaugh. Joleen was
married to David Bundt in Denver, Colorado in 1975. After they returned to Iowa their daughter,
Brigette was born in 1978. They later divorced. Joleen and Mark
Jones were married in 1981. Joleen worked at Shady Oaks, selling insurance, and
Jung’s Bakery in Carroll before she and her husband,
Mark, moved to Oakland, California in 1983.
She was an employee in the pharmacy department of Longs Drug Store for
20 years. She loved family, her nieces
and nephew, fishing, camping, and watching sports, especially the Oakland
A’s. Joleen
was a member of the Lanesboro United Methodist Church. Joleen is survived by her daughter, Brigette
Irene (Michael) Fischer, and grandson, Hans Mathias, of Blaine, Minnesota;
mother, Phyllis Harms of Lake City, Iowa; sisters, Jean Harms of Eugene,
Oregon, Sheryl (Martin) McCrea of Commerce City, Colorado; brothers, Colonel
Dan Harms of Silverspring, Maryland and wife, Kim
of Columbia, South Carolina, Terry Harms of Stafford, Virginia; aunt, Darlene
(Dick) Barnhill of Veneta, Oregon; uncle, Bud Subbert of Redding, California; nieces, Ariana, Cassie, Tara, Chelsea; nephew, Cory John;
great-nieces, Elissa, Katy, Kaylyn;
cousins, Paula Barnhill of Fresno, California, Mike (Deb) Harms of Lake City,
Iowa and Cindy Hanlon of Arizona.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents; father, John Carl Harms
in 1999; uncles, James Subbert in 2007, Laverne,
Herman, Paul, George, and Carl Harms; aunt, Viola “Tootie”
Mantz; and several cousins. |
