Luane "Louie" Nelson
Auburn–Luane “Louie” Dean Nelson, 73, died Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.
Luane “Louie” Nelson was born on May 25, 1945 in St. James, Minnesota to Clifford and Doris (Baarson) Nelson. He graduated high school and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1965-1967. On September 20, 1969 he married Vernada Johnson in Odin, Minnesota. Louie retired from the railroad as a lineman in 2005 after working for both the CN&W and Union Pacific for a total of 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping and spending time with his grandsons. Louie was a member of the American Legion.
Louie is survived by his wife Vernada of Auburn; sons Dean Nelson of Adair and Wade (Angela) Nelson of Osage; grandsons Conner and Colton Nelson of Osage; brother Gary (Shirley) Nelson of Huron, SD; sisters Ginger (Joe) Martin of Bloomington, MN, Sandy (Eugene) Gronseth of Mongona, IA, Judy Koch of St. Peter, MN, Cindy (Tom) Bak of Windom, MN and Vickie Smith of Butterfield, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Doris Nelson.
