Ruthven - Phyllis Marie Higgins, daughter of Lawrence and Leona Magner, was born January 14, 1944 in Lake City, Iowa. She began her education in a one room country school near Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1962.
On January 4, 1963 Phyllis was united in marriage to Raymond O. Higgins in Lake City, Iowa. To this union a son, Nathan was born.
Phyllis was employed at Witco in Spencer, Iowa for twenty two years, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers and taking walks. She did extensive genealogical research on her family, developing several volumes of information. Phyllis was also a talented seamstress, making several quilts. She was very proud of her yard and loved working outside as well as watching and feeding the birds. Phyllis enjoyed shopping and attending garage sales. She especially looked forward to the time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was very important to her.
Phyllis passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home in Ruthven, Iowa at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Higgins of Ruthven, Iowa; her son, Nathan Higgins and his wife, Maggie of Longmont, Colorado; two grandchildren, Dakota Johnson and her husband, Jason of West Bend, Iowa and Nickolas Higgins of Longmont, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Macy Higgins, Zoey Higgins, and Haley Johnson West Bend, Iowa; two brothers, Raymond Magner of Denison, Iowa and Robert Magner and his wife, Tammy of Hamlin, Iowa; a sister, Elaine Allen and Steve Northrup of Dawson, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with burial in the North Raccoon Cemetery, Lanesboro.
